Overview

A new floor for the kitchen and café at Palmer Trinity School, installed over the summer break. A year later, the school brought CIC back to finish the entrances with custom logo mats.

The design

The floor uses two tones of Amtico Access wood-look plank. One runs through the open room; the darker one frames it as a border, steps around columns and corners, and crosses each set of doors as a threshold band. A tall black rubber base ties the border to the walls, so the room reads crisp and finished from every doorway.

The work

The old floor came out, the slab was tested for moisture and prepared, and the planks and border went down between late June and August, while the campus was out for summer.

In 2026, CIC returned to set precision inlay mats with the Palmer Trinity crest into the café entrances, so the school’s crest greets everyone who walks in.
