Overview
The whole gymnasium at Gwen Cherry Park, from the first piece of demolition to the last coat of sealant. CIC took out the old floor, prepared the base, installed a new wood court, designed and painted the logos, laid out the game lines and sealed it, ready for play.
The design
The artwork on this floor was designed by CIC. At center court sits the Gwen Cherry Park seal, ringed by the park’s name. Along the sidelines, CIC painted the Miami-Dade County Parks & Recreation mark and the NFL shield, so the court carries the identity of the park and its programs.
Every logo and every game line was laid out on the new wood before the finish went on, so the colors sit under the sealant instead of on top of it.
The work
One crew carried the gym through every stage: demolition of the old floor, preparation of the base, installation of the new wood flooring, sanding, game lines, logos and sealant. With no hand-off between an installer, a painter and a finisher, the lines, the artwork and the seal were all planned around the same floor.
The result is a bright, high-gloss court for the neighborhood around NW 22nd Avenue, built to take years of games, practices and summer camps.
