Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center

Overview

The rooms that take the hardest use at Coral Gables’ youth center, renewed in one summer. CIC refinished the gymnasium from floor to walls (the wood courts, new wall pads and fresh paint), refinished the dance studio floor, and replaced the fitness center flooring with new rubber, so the building was ready when programs picked back up.

The gym

The courts were sanded back to bare wood, then the game lines were laid out, taped and painted. Clear finish coats went on last, bringing back a light, even look under the gym’s high windows.

CIC also painted the gym and installed new wall pads around the courts, so the walls match the floor and players have protection along every sideline and baseline.

Dance studio and fitness center

The dance studio’s wood floor was sanded and refinished to a smooth, even surface for classes. In the fitness center, the old flooring came up down to the slab, the floor was prepared, and new rubber flooring was rolled out and seamed wall to wall, so the cardio and strength equipment went back on a surface built for dropped weights and constant traffic.
