16 July, 2020The South Beach Food and Wine Festival is an event attendees throughout Miami—and beyond—look forward to every year. This annual five-day festival is a wonderful opportunity for different businesses, chefs, and culinary professionals to showcase their expertise within the industry. Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management has direct involvement with this event, which brings the entire community together through great food, entertainment, and a lively atmosphere.
Seeking to reflect an amazing experience within the university, the school sought the help of contractors to renovate the building lobby and bring out the spirit of the festival. Considering that the event is located on the beach, the goal was to project a very open and beach-like atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to budgets and a poor contractor, FIU did not get the end result they desired.

That’s when they turned to us for help.
This project was a complicated undertaking that consisted of various moving parts to get the client's vision just right. Our first priority was to remove the previously installed flooring. This required time and a delicate touch due to the previous contractors’ poorly-laid Quarry tile on top of the original carpet. Yes, on TOP of the carpet.
To best protect the integrity of the building and not cause further damage everything was carefully removed and our team started with a blank slate.
To avoid miscommunication, we take care to involve our clients in every step of the decision-making process. For this particular project, there were a total of twenty different floor samples presented. After careful consideration, all parties agreed on this stunning porcelain tile to best represent the theme. After the floors were prepped, we proceeded to lay out the tile in a timely manner. The flooring was completed within a three week timespan. The client was so impressed, they brought us in shortly after for phase two!
