Overview

The Central Terminal check-in hall at Miami International Airport is the first thing millions of passengers see. In October 2024 the airport opened the first phase of its modernized check-in area, part of a $38 million renovation of the Central Terminal with new counters, self-service bag drop, terrazzo floors and ceilings.

Our part

Working under general contractors OEC and CES, CIC built the curved check-in counter pods: metal framing bent to the radius of each pod, drywall over it, and the wall finishes that wrap the counters, all built inside a live terminal.

The work

Curved framing has no margin for error. Every track and stud was set to the design radius so the drywall and finishes run in one smooth, continuous curve around each pod, ready for the counters, bag belts and airline signage to be installed against them.
